Justin Perricone, a Massachusettes based graphic designer, brings us the innards of the Hot Pocket. Perricone's tasteful, educational and elegant typographical treatment of the long list of ingredients and chemicals that make up the commonly consumed, processed, food-like snack has caught the attention of foodies far and wide across the vast expanse that is the internet.
Perricone's beautiful treatment lays out (in Wordle like form) all that is unnatural in the ham and cheese flavored pouch. Hot Pockets - the likes of which makes most self respecting foodies squirm - have long been the butt of organic and healthy food proponents jokes. And were even the focus of a memorable, hysterical and nearly 5-minute long bit in comedian Jim Gaffigan's Comedy Central special Beyond the Pale.
Now foodies are championing Perricone's apparent jab at microwaveable convenience foods as a gorgeous reminder to be aware of exactly what it is you're eating. Perricone's poster is to be the first in a series and debuts on the heels of Michelle Obama's initiative to combat childhood obesity, whose focus is in part to move nutritional information from the back of packaging to the front.
After garnering so much internet love, Perricone has yielded to the demand and plans to sell a run of limited edition screen prints of his now internet famous poster.
